I’ve loved dance all my life and attended my first ballet class at the age of three or four, dressed in my little blue leotard with the frill and red ballet shoes with ribbons. I adored that uniform! I continued to dance on and off throughout my childhood but began to take it more seriously at University where I studied Ballet, Tap, Pointe, Jazz and Contemporary under the expert guidance of Stephanie Constantine-Smith (RAD). I adored the technical and expressive sides of dance, but it was also where my love for developing my own choreography began to evolve and the ability to bring my ideas to life through other dancers. A career and children came along and I took a long break from dance, only dabbling occasionally in a few classes and workshops. But as my children grew older and I was looking to get back to work, the old magic returned so in 2012 I took a huge leap of faith and became a Zumba Instructor and started my own business. I haven’t looked back since. It has opened so many doors – the opportunity to teach dance classes, choreograph for the theatre, work with the elderly (I can’t tell you how much I love this), create beautiful wedding dances and culminating in becoming an accredited BalletBeFit Instructor. It’s been a whirlwind few years but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have a job I love and a fabulous Team behind me who I adore. We are always looking ahead at what else we can offer and my next, very personal venture, will be starting classes for Cancer patients. My objective is to encourage people into dance and fitness who might not think it’s for them. We don’t judge, we don’t discriminate, we welcome anybody and everybody with open arms. Dance should be for EVERYONE and that’s our philosophy.

I’ve always loved dancing, anything musical related and any type of exercise that can make me smile! Four years ago I went to my first Zumba class with Kerstin and have never looked back. A workout that doesn’t feel like one, where you can smile and dance too, is the best kind. In January 2020, I got my Zumba instructor license so that Sara and I could teach Zumba and represent Kerstin & our Zumba fitness family, whether it be in person, via Zoom in our living rooms, or on pre-recorded classes. I love knowing that our Zumba classes bring a tiny bit of sparkle and joy to people’s days. In 2009 I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Being 14 at the time and an active teenager I was confused and scared, but since diagnosis I have not let it stop me from doing anything. Just because I have a chronic illness, it doesn’t mean I can’t do everything I want to do and more. You may notice various gadgets attached to me to keep me alive, but they don’t and won’t stop me dancing, running, walking and having a flippin good time doing it too! I hope this encourages you to not allow anything to hold you back either.
